got up close to this TS in Bayfield
they were in the process of setting the sails so they could leave the dock.

What a sailing partner Liz is....
KILLS the flies as she KILLS the fine red!

hitchiker (spotted those crackers by Liz )

We can't ALL like Tall Ships
This one is about 100 + ft long

Feeling right at home at Little Sand Bay bein's we spotted this barge by the name PELICAN.

Just about to Lake Superior when a bearing got hot and started the hub grease on FIRE !!!

Finally got back on road about 24hrs later and started our sailing trip to the Apostles.
Looks like fun to me

May 11.... It marks THIRTY-ONE years for these two sailors.

Many many days of calm breeze and clear skies

Interspersed with stretches of exciting new winds

Took on some water a few times and made some repairs

These days we wouldn't trade for any other, including day one.

Didn't try to go to Grand Forks this year for Christmas due to the big STORM....
How was I so lucky to find that SPECIAL wife that "insists" on hanging the Christmas lights??
Now... how do I get down?

Frustrated sailor on a Saturday night... No wind... No vino... but then again you can always count on the SUNSET!
Our friends Jim and Janet Jensen sailing next to us on Pelican Sunday afternoon.

You should have been here when Liz cooked up those string beans. They kept most of their color and were FANTASTIC...

Pat Mahowald listed mom and dad's old house on Lake Kampeska. The current owners bought it for $80k and after extensive updating (all concrete driveway, AC, additional bath, new kitchen, etc) now it is listed for $269k some 12 yrs later. Liz and I and Hillary and Ryan took a stroll down MEMORY LANE at the open house just for the heck of it.

FLOATILLA '09

We got together with a few other boats ( 5 total ) and all tied up in the "middle" of Lake Pelican. Had a little happy hour than headed into our place for an old fashioned neighborhood BBQ. Lots of great food and conversation and even a few games. After the sun disappeared we got going on a "bonding"fire.

Liz went to the garden today to fetch a pail of peppers and found only one...

(if you don't double click this one, you must not be a gardener)
I took Sails Call out to the river (Lake Oahe) last week as part of a working/vacation. Yes I did work... however when my boss called I told him I was on a "sails call" and would get back to him later--- much later!

Maybe 40+ boats of all types and sizes. Since I travel here every other week for my job, I am thinking about leasing a slip for 2010 so I can use the boat alittle more often.
I was in a slip way at the end of the dock, probably 150 yards from shore. It is a deep water marina alright and the depth gauge on the boat read 99 ft.
Joe and Nancy included us in their whirlwind tour of the midwest. They became FAMILY to Ryan when he was stationed in their town in Washington and couldn't wait to meet his new wife Hillary on this trip. Thank you two for keeping us a part of your lives.
